Polokwane City vs Kaizer Chiefs Telkom Knockout Cup

Posted: 5 October 2013 Time: 19:39

Kaizer Chiefs cruised into the Telkom Knockout Cup quarterfinals after a 3-0 drubbing of Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

Amakhosi had led 1-0 at the break courtesy of Tefu Mashamaite's header, and the centre-back added another in similar fashion from a corner-kick on 68 minutes.

Knowledge Musona made sure of the win four minutes later, running onto Morgan Gould's long-ball before chipping the on-rushing Galabgwe Moyana.

The first chance fell to the visitors in the third minute when George Lebese left the ball for Reneilwe Letsholonyane, but Nkueni Mayala made a good save at the near post.

Then in the 16th minute Itumeleng Khune was forced into action to tip a powerful strike from Thabo Rakhale over the crossbar.

Amakhosi took the lead in the 34th minute when Mashamaite met Bernard Parker’s corner at the near post to nod past as stranded Mayala.

Mayala did stop Chiefs from taking a two-goal lead into the break when he denied Musona from close range in the first minute of added time.

The visitors threatened to double their lead in the 53rd minute, but Kingston Nkhatha volleyed over the crossbar after the ball fell for him at the far post from a corner.

Siphesihle Nzimande had a chance at the other end six minutes later but his header was blocked by Morgan Gould, while his second effort went straight to Khune.

Then on the hour-mark Million Mkhabela did well to clear the ball over the line after Tsepo Masilela had chipped over Mayala, while Letsholonyane missed a sitter six minutes later.

However, Mashamaite gave Amakhosi some breathing space in the 66th minute with another headed goal from Parker’s corner.

Chiefs put the result beyond doubt in the 74th minute when Musona beat Mayala with a lobbed effort after running onto a long pass from Gould.

Boring and flat game. Too much javelin.

That's why SADC & Africa was not watching.

Nywe...nywe...Esperance nywe!

We're one leg into the CAF champions league final.

Yeye needs to be rested the guy is not finished definately,he is exhausted just twwo games resting will make the difference,I am not at all pleased about our striking force, they aree goal shy I think Chiefs is regretting by loaning Nale and Ngcobo.Sometimes Kaizer Snr needs intervene when his blind son Bobby took foolish decision.

I once hear a certain commentator praising Bobby that he knows soccer and Iwas so surprised becase even that commentator never play football.

At least 3 goals is better than the one goal that was scored by Pie.

It won't be the 1st time a player sits on the bench. Where is Pelembe? And when is Raymond Monama getting his 1st cap? What happened to Sangweni? The moral of the story is that, focus on ur spaza shop & leave KC & its players alone.
