Polokwane City vs Kaizer Chiefs Telkom Knockout Cup

Posted: 5 October 2013 Time: 19:39

Kaizer Chiefs cruised into the Telkom Knockout Cup quarterfinals after a 3-0 drubbing of Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

Amakhosi had led 1-0 at the break courtesy of Tefu Mashamaite's header, and the centre-back added another in similar fashion from a corner-kick on 68 minutes.

Knowledge Musona made sure of the win four minutes later, running onto Morgan Gould's long-ball before chipping the on-rushing Galabgwe Moyana.

The first chance fell to the visitors in the third minute when George Lebese left the ball for Reneilwe Letsholonyane, but Nkueni Mayala made a good save at the near post.

Then in the 16th minute Itumeleng Khune was forced into action to tip a powerful strike from Thabo Rakhale over the crossbar.

Amakhosi took the lead in the 34th minute when Mashamaite met Bernard Parker’s corner at the near post to nod past as stranded Mayala.

Mayala did stop Chiefs from taking a two-goal lead into the break when he denied Musona from close range in the first minute of added time.

The visitors threatened to double their lead in the 53rd minute, but Kingston Nkhatha volleyed over the crossbar after the ball fell for him at the far post from a corner.

Siphesihle Nzimande had a chance at the other end six minutes later but his header was blocked by Morgan Gould, while his second effort went straight to Khune.

Then on the hour-mark Million Mkhabela did well to clear the ball over the line after Tsepo Masilela had chipped over Mayala, while Letsholonyane missed a sitter six minutes later.

However, Mashamaite gave Amakhosi some breathing space in the 66th minute with another headed goal from Parker’s corner.

Chiefs put the result beyond doubt in the 74th minute when Musona beat Mayala with a lobbed effort after running onto a long pass from Gould.

I'm begging Mr ref to be neutral, by so doing Polokwane City will advance to the next round.

Lehlohonolo Majoro, "a once known as Major by Baxter" is suffering from Baxter's attitude. I don't see him playing anytime soon. Don't say I didn't tell you. Zebra supporters will bark forever to deaf ears for him to come back to starting eleven. Let Polokwane City eliminate zebras, then we will talk.

We need nkosi in the second half to create some real passes to our strikers. No need to play with yeye and katsande here. As for lebese, he is hiding tonite. Masango or JD must replace him.

As a Kaizer Chiefs Supporter I will sit down because there is nothing to celebrate about beating Polokwane City with our first team!

Sit down Makhosi Amahle!

An Okay result, but not entertaining.

Yeye is finished...done, as in coffin finished.

Lebese, I don't expect this boy to improve,he's who he is now.

Nkhatha, what can I say...we will give him to Pierats in January.

Rakale, how on earth you have Mabena on your payroll and let such a boy go.

Morgan Gould, I watch the match better knowing it's Tower & Masha...
