Franklin Cale Ajax Cape Town Telkom Knockout Cup

Posted: 2 October 2013 Time: 16:29

Ajax Cape Town winger Franklin Cale says he hasn’t fully recovered from injury yet, but will soldier on if needed in this weekend’s Telkom Knockout clash against SuperSport United.

The 30-year-old hasn’t played for the Urban Warriors since the opening day of the season due to a knee injury, but he tells KickOff.com he is edging closer to a return.

“It’s frustrating to be at the physio when all my teammates are outside enjoying what they do,” Cale says. “But I think I’m getting there … I’m not hundred per cent fit yet, but I can carry on.”

Cale is excited at the prospect of facing one of his former teams this Saturday.

“SuperSport have one of the best coaches in the country and it’s not going to be an easy game for us,” he adds. “When Gavin Hunt was there everything was long, but they now have a coach who knows his players and a coach who wants to play football.”

Ajax are yet to register a win this season, but Cale is hopeful they can get the season going this weekend against Matsatsantsa.

“We have a lot of young players and they still need to gel with the older guys, but we hope that maybe this weekend we’ll get our first win.”
