Bradley Grobler SuperSport United Ajax Cape Town Telkom Knockout

Posted: 2 October 2013 Time: 14:32

SuperSport United forward Bradley Grobler is in a race against time to recover for his side’s Telkom Knockout clash against his former club Ajax Cape Town.

Grobler suffered a grade-1 muscle strain on the knee while training with Matsatsantsa and he remains a doubt for Cavin Johnson’s men.

“We know exactly what we are coming up against … Ajax are always a difficult, tricky side to play, but we are fortunate enough to have in the team players with good knowledge on them, so we are sharing the ideas,” the striker tells KickOff.com.

“That said, we are anticipating a difficult match. We haven’t been doing well; they haven’t had a good run also, so this is one game that everybody will want to make things right for them.”

Grobler adds: “I’m still in the treatment room and racing against time to be fit; there is a 50-50 chance right now but, if I don’t make it, I know we have enough depth in the squad.”

Despite the recent slump in the League, Grobler is also relishing United’s chance of winning the TKO spectacular.

“We stand a good chance and we are lucky enough to have a good squad, even with the injuries. We have good replacements and we should make good advantage of that. This is our chance and it will be really disappointing if we don’t win this Cup.”

SuperSport and Ajax also clashed in last season’s Telkom Knockout, with Matsatsantsa winning in a shootout despite Grobler netting a penalty for the Urban Warriors earlier in the match.

The 25-year-old insists SuperSport will be ready should the match go to spot-kicks again.

“It’s a cup game so it’s fair to expect anything and prepare for all situations,” he says. “In the event we head to penalties again, I trust that the experience we boast in this team will prove vital.”
