Orlando Pirates Jali ruled out for six weeks

Posted: 20 September 2013 Time: 16:53

Orlando Pirates star Andile Jali faces up to six weeks on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.

The ex-University of Pretoria man tore a muscle in Pirates' 1-0 victory over Polokwane City in the Premiership on Wednesday night.

Club doctor Thabiso Mmoledi confirmed Jali will need surgery after the player underwent a scan on Friday.

"Jali cannot play with the injury he is carrying. He has a bad tear on the muscle on his shoulder which will require an operation," Mmoledi told the Sea Robbers' official website.

"He will see an orthopaedic surgeon this week for the operation on his shoulder. It should take him up to six weeks to recover."

Lehlogonolo Masalesa, who has impressed in Jali's absence when called upon, is now likely to partner Oupa Manyisa in central midfield in Sunday's CAF Champions League clash with Al Ahly at Orlando Stadium.

Thandani Ntshumayelo has recovered from a lengthy ankle problem, but is still short of match fitness.

I'm starting to suspect that the rumours about the Lion King's age are starting to show some truth.... A "young" man like this shouldn't be susceptible to physical strain in this manner...

I can already here him.... "...we really missed Andile..."

We'll really miss Jali, Masalese is a bit soft, he is no fighter.......Maybe this is a right opportunity to find replacement for Jali since he still did not sign his contract. Lets see which player will raise his hands.

Mr Editor people are posting nonsense here and you are quite, I blame you for not stating that Jali fell badly during the game and injured his shoulder. To show that he is indeed a Lion he carried on with the game unlike some cows at nazoorena

Forcing Jali to continue playing with the injury during their midweek game aggravated it; Polokwane City was not posing any threat to have warranted the player to continue playing.

I won't be surprised if he features against KC, Sangweni once did! This club is not Professional at all, ask Stanton Fredericks! No wonder J Skhosani always criticise the all the way! He just hates this team
