Roger de Sa Orlando Pirates Al-Ahly CAF Champions League

Posted: 19 September 2013 Time: 20:15

Roger de Sa says Orlando Pirates will give it a full go when they host Al-Ahly at Orlando Stadium on Sunday – with a match against Bayern Munich the big attraction.

A win for Bucs will guarantee a place in the semis of the CAF Champions League, and with the winners of Africa’s premium club competition getting to play in Fifa’s Club World Cup, De Sa hopes to do battle with Europe’s reigning champions.

“I certainly hope we can reach the semis. The players deserve to be in the next round because they have worked hard; we’ve been in very unfriendly places and we have managed to come through it, and I just hope we can continue,” he says.

“[The CAF Champions League] is a massive competition … there is no doubt about it. If you win the Champions League, you’ve got an opportunity to play in the World Club champs. Can you imagine Orlando Pirates v Bayern Munich? That will be a great experience for all of us.

“It will be great to measure ourselves against one of the best teams in the last decade or ever. You wanna go as high as you can. I hope we can put on a good showing on Sunday. I really hope so.”

Pirates thumped Ahly 3-0 in Cairo in the first clash between the two sides, but De Sa knows it won’t be such smooth sailing again.

“Al-Ahly have some quality players, but so do we. We must make sure we come to the party.”

We'll win this game. I know football is won on the pitch not in the media, however, as RDS has said, we've been through a lot, we really deserve to be there. That's a dream to realize Mr coach, all the best!

Eish Eish Bayern neh...

Let's hold that Bayern thought and focus on this imperative game against Ahly....we have to pull ourselves towards ourselves, let us not loose focus

Bayern is indeed in our thoughts, but Ahly meeting is more important...let the galaxies come out blazing, no panic button should be pressed, tiki-taka should be the order of the day...Nastee Nes wants to blow R2K on booze...hauweeeeeng

Emeka952 Good question my bro. Our players have focused too much on money and the good time. They don't dream bigger e.g. to play in the world's big leagues. Money has replaced passion. With all the facilities we have, we should be high up there with the best! What a pity and a waste of resources!!

In South Africa we do have a freedom of expression in our constitution,I believe they were suppose to include the freedom of dreaming impossible things.

RDS wake up ,dont mock yourself.
