Bloemfontein Celtic Kaizer Chiefs PSL

Posted: 17 September 2013 Time: 18:53

Bloemfontein Celtic held defending champions Kaizer Chiefs to a goalless draw at Free State Stadium on Tuesday night.

Chiefs were the better side in the first half, but failed to hit the target despite creating numerous chances.

Early on, Morgan Gould couldn't keep his header down from Siphiwe Tshabalala's corner.

In the 12th minute, Shabba delivered the ball in the box from another corner and Celtic's defence failed to clear. The ball fell to Willard Katsande, whose right-footed attempt was over the bar.

Two minutes later, Itumeleng Khune played a long ball and Kingston Nkhatha had a great first touch, but then rushed and his shot was not even close to the target.

Celtic, who were in the backfoot, finally had their chance to test Khune in the 26th minute when Joel Mogorosi tried his luck from outside the box after Gould failed to clear. Khune, however, didn't even have to make a save as the shot went wide.

The home side was forced to make a change with nine minutes before the interval when Trevor Lamola signalled to the bench that he was unable to continue because of an arm injury. He was replaced by Ruzaigh Gamildien.

In the 41st minute, George Lebese played in a great cross but Reneilwe Letsholonyane header over the bar.

There was still more time for Celtic to go on the attack of their own. Vuyani Ntanga let rip from distance and Khune spilled the ball, but lucky for him Chiefs' defence cleared the danger.

After the break Chiefs continued to surge forward in search of the opener.

Tshabalala played a pass to Knowledge Musona who was rushing into the box. The Zimbabwean beat Clayton Daniels, but fluffed the opportunity with an ambitious shot that went accross goal in the 48th minute.

Celtic were forced into another change in the 50th minute, with the injured Walter Letlabika making way for Limbikani Mzava.

It could have got worse for Phunya Sele Sele in the 55th minute when Mogorosi, who was already sitting on a yellow card, escaped a red for a foul on 'Yeye'.

On the hour-mark Siboniso Gaxa was forced off and replaced by Josta Dladla.

Gamildien almost put Celtic in the driving seat, but his well-taken shot just missed the target.

In the 68th minute, Daniels handled the ball on the edge of the box, but Shabba's free-kick was way over the bar.

Letsholonyane could have snatched all three points for Amakhosi at the death but, from a cross by Musona, the midfielder arrived late in the box and failed to control his header.

Sjavo thats true but i also think Celtics did well to contain us when were really put them under pressure in the first half, a lot of teams would have cracked, they were pressing us from the front forcing our defenders to play long balls.

I think we are missing the point now.the point is if Nkatha burried those clear cut chances we should not be talking about this today,so the culprit is Nkatha finish and klaar.

We need to understand that not every player got the pedegree to play for the mighty amakhosi this Nkatha is not a Chiefs material and we cannot keep blaming everyone for his mistakes .his putting himself under pressure by frastrating the suppoters.

Maybe Doc Khumalo does not have much say in the team to be played. If he does then what was going through his head when Nkatha was fumbling with scoring chances? Couldn't he tell his coach that it was time they brought in Majoro? We supporters deserve to be respected. We tired of being ridiculed by our rivals over delayed decision-making.

I think it's time we suppoters understand the game,we need 2 analyze th team as a whole & nt individual players.

If players like Shaba,Parker,Musona & Yeye have th freedom 2 do as thy want, cause thy knw tht u suppoters will protect thm.wht abt th other players?

if u look @ Yesterday's game & tell m wht contribution Shaba had 4 us 2 win th game,Musona wanting 2 rush every chance we had & taking a shot from an awkward angle.

Whn was th last time Shaba scored a free-kick? bt he keeps on taking thm,why nt give other players a chance,i'm telling u guys if a player like Lebese can have th same freedom, tht Shaba & his crew have in th team & protection frm th suppoters.u'll all sing a different tune.

We want thm 2 be like Jabu & Skapies of th team,bt we dn't knw tht role is already taken by players like Shaba & Parker,

If u played football u will undrestand tht players differ in terms of strength,skill,technique,speed.etc.Glory Continues!!!

TsoKing I hear you khosi, good points indeed, though i think Musona played well Izolo apart from (as you mentioned) rushing his shots. i think the coaches needed to protect Nkata by taking him out sooner for Ballz man.

Its not true what you are saying ,remember Shabba was under lot of pressure after the Afcon because his form was not good and he came back very strong towards the end of the season, won man of the match awards each and every game and proved that form its temporary but class its permanent.what I am trying to say its that those players you have just mention they lack class.they are always developing.

With Nkatha point taken Sgegede,i'm failing 2 undrestand his problem..he needs 2 use his brain more thn strength.

It's just tht th players i've mentioned above, can put this in their minds..Chiefs is a team & nt individual glory will win us games bt team effort as a whole.Glory Continues!!!

After this game I'm so disappointed with our Technical Team and our players. They are wasting the team's money running without any sort of plan or strategy. How does it take them to get all the players to 100% form and deliver what one would assume is a strategy they have? The answer... They have no strategy and no goal for the players to attain! It's just training and training, physio and physio with no clear strategy! I would forgive a Shaba or Parker or even Musona to miss a free kick once at the beginning of the season, I'd forgive the team for failing to score a corner at the beginning of the season, but when it happens day in and day out, one can't help but ask what the heck are these guys doing at training? We don't know how to take advantage of corner kicks, and we don't know how to defend them either. We just pitch at the ground and hope that this time we'll not loose! That's not how you win games guys, please! Get your acts together... Why the players who are being benched are not getting to 100% so they can show us what they are capable of? Because the team has no plan nor strategy to get them to a point that they can deliver something worthy!Pissed-off!
