Chippa United African Warriors unbeaten in First Division

Cape Town sides were on fire in the second round of National First Division matches, with Chippa United, Santos, Milano United and Vasco da Gama securing famous wins, while Thanda Royal Zulu continue to struggle.

Black Leopards 1-2 African Warriors
Warriors made it two wins from two following a 2-1 defeat of Leopards on Friday at Seshego Stadium. Kamohelo Mabuya opened the scoring for the visitors on 15 minutes, but former Kaizer Chiefs man Brian Amidu levelled just after the break. However, Warriors got the winner with 20 minutes to go through Thami Ngema.

Chippa United 2-0 FC Cape Town
Chippa maintained their perfect start to the 2013/14 campaign with a 2-0 derby win against FC Cape Town. Petrus Ngebo scored early on before Kenneth Makgothi netted five minutes from the end for the three points.

Maluti FET College 0-1 Baroka FC
Baroka secured they first victory in the First Division at the Charles Mopeli Stadium courtesy of Girt Motupa’s strike. By contrast, Maluti are yet to record a win following their promotion.

Roses FC 1-2 United FC
United FC missed two penalties at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium, but still beat Roses 2-1. Martin Moonsamy and Linda Shiba scored to leave the Free Staters still searching for their first win.

Milano United 2-0 Jomo Cosmos
After seeing their opening match postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Milano got their campaign off to a flying start with a 2-0 victory against Cosmos at Grassy Park – Devon Saal and Chad Robertson the goal heroes.

Thanda Royal Zulu 0-1 Santos
Gregory Roelf’s 55th-minute goal at the Umhlathuze Sport Complex in Richard’s Bay condemned Thanda to their second consecutive defeat of 2013/14.

Vasco da Gama 2-1 Blackburn Rovers
Vasco ended a great weekend for the Cape sides by beating Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Parow Park on Sunday afternoon, with Ndiviwe Mdabuka and Jaabier Delport netted for the hosts, while Khulekani Mthebu scored the consolation goal for Rovers.

Witbank Spurs 0-2 Sivutsa Stars
First half goals from Cebo Mayiwa and Kabelo Mahlasela helped Stars secure their first win of the season. For Spurs, it’s a poor result following their season-opening defeat of Thanda.
