Free State Stars let go of a two-goal lead in the last 30 minutes of the Free State Derby against Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday afternoon.
Musa Nyatama and Rodrick Mutuma’s goals for Celtic cancelled out Luyolo Nomandela and Basit Adam’s in a heated encounter.
Celtic were the first side to settle and Ruzaigh Gamildien had a diving header inches off target after a great cross by Joel Mogorosi out on the left.
On the 28th minute Danny Venter created space for himself 40 yards out on the right flank and let rip with a powerful shot, but Patrick Tignyemb was well positioned and grabbed the ball easily.
Two minutes later Katlego Mashego combined well with Basit Adam, who sent a fantastic cross into the box, but he headed over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
Five minutes before half time, Nomandela headed home from Venter’s cross to make it 1-0.
Adam made it 2-0 10 minutes after the restart, showing great composure and skill to turn outside the box and fire a thunderous left-footed shot into the back of the net.
But Celtic got one back eight minutes later, when Nyatama dribbled his way past three Stars defenders in the box and toe-poked the ball past Daniel Agyei.
Then, on 71 minutes, Phunya Sele Sele levelled the scores when Mutuma connected with a cross from the right wing and headed home from 12 yards out, after Agyei failed to commit having come off his line, and Free State Stadium erupted into song.
