Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya has joined OFI Crete FC in Greece on a one-year loan deal.
The Zimbabwean international joined Chiefs in 2011, but did not see much on-field action last season.
He has two years left in his contract.
“Lincoln is a top player. We looked at the team and thought it would be best for him to get game-time at another club,” Amakhosi football manager Bobby Motaung explains on the club’s official website.
“We will continually monitor the situation and determine the way forward. It is also good for him to gain experience in a different country. He is still young and it is good for his growth and development as a player.”
Motaung adds that by loaning Zvayisa to the Greek side, Chiefs are also expanding their international network.
“And as a club we are spreading our wings in terms of creating relationships both nationally and internationally. OFI Crete FC was professional in the way they advanced their proposal and we looked at it and we found that the deal made sense for everyone.
“It is Kaizer Chiefs policy to open up opportunities for the players especially when those opportunities will grow and develop the players.”
