First division outfit Vasco da Gama are set to appoint former captain Keenin Lesch as their new head coach.
KickOff.com can reveal that deal to have the 32-year-old as the new coach has already been agreed on in principle, but he will only be officially announced once all the paperwork regarding his contract has been finalized.
Lesch takes over from Tony de Nobrega, who has been in charge for the past two seasons.
The shock appointment means he will immediately hang up his boots, having spent the past season turning out for Milano United – another Cape Town-based First Division team.
Lesch was groomed at Cape Town Spurs juniors before moving on to make his PSL debut at Santos during the 2000/01 season.
However, due to the demands of his job at the Sports Science Institute he spent most of his playing career in the lower divisions with Saxon Rovers, Avendale Athletico and Vasco, whom he helped win promotion to the top-flight in 2010.
