Bafana ninth best in Africa

Bafana Bafana climb nine places in Fifa Rankings

Posted: 9 May 2013 Time: 12:30 pm

Bafana Bafana have climbed six places in the latest Fifa World Rankings, while also breaking back into the top 10 countries in Africa.

Gordon Igesund’s men are up to 56th in the global standings and ninth among CAF nations.

They are still well behind African leaders Ivory Coast, who are 12th overall, but well above any of their 2014 World Cup qualifying opponents – Central Africa Republic (64th), Ethiopia (107th) and Botswana (125th).

There are no changes in the top 10 in the world rankings, with Spain, Germany and Argentina still leading the way.

Top 10 in Africa
1. Ivory Coast (12th)
2. Ghana (22nd)
3. Mali (26th)
4. Nigeria (28th)
5. Algeria (35th)
6. Tunisia (41st)
7. Zambia (46th)
8. Burkina Faso (50th)
9. South Africa (56th)
10. Equatorial Guinea (61st)

Thanks to Itumeleng Khune who ensured that no dubious goal was concede. I remember when he saved two one-on-one goals against one of the Africa's deadliest strikers. Thanks to his 85% ball distributing accurracy coz it ensured that we don't lose possession chealy.

We are blessed in South Africa to have Khune as our goalkeeper.

South Africa will not go to Brasil, failed to reach finals of the Confed at home, eliminated in the group stages of the WC2010, failed in the AFCON2013.

All the above tournaments, SA participated by virtue of being hosts, yet they stil failed dismally.
