Basetsana fail to qualify for WC finals

Basetsana’s hopes of qualifying for the World Cup finals, scheduled for November 2008 in Chile, were dashed when they were beaten in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the weekend.

The South African National Under-20 women’s team travelled to central Africa carrying a slender lead after scoring a 3-1 victory in the first leg at home.

However, their opponents, the DRC Leopards emerged victorious with a 2-0 home win at the Stadium of Martyrs.
