Roger Palmgren takes over as Namibia coach

Posted: 2 May 2013 Time: 06:55 pm

Roger Palmgren was named as coach of Namibia on Thursday, just over a month before they play two World Cup qualifiers against Malawi and African champions Nigeria, a Namibia Football Association statement said.

The 50-year-old Swede was coach of Sierra Leone when they competed at the 1996 African Nations Cup finals in 1996 and was later also in charge of Rwanda.

His last job was with PSL club AmaZulu, who fired him late last year.

Palmgren replaces Bernard Kaanjuka, who resigned after Namibia were beaten at home by Malawi in their last World Cup qualifier in March. They have three points from three games in Group F, two behind joint leaders Nigeria and Malawi.

What a joke...is this the only fool they could afford at Soccer House...Barry Rukoro is making a mockery of the national team with his spaza shop type antics and way he runs NFA along with his uncle John Muinjo...yet they have the means to learn from also corrupt but at least competent SAFA but refuse to utilize what is at their disposal...
