Katlego Mashego overtook Bernard Parker in the scoring charts as Moroka Swallows thumped Golden Arrows 4-1.
Bennett Chenene and Mashego each scored a brace for the Dube Birds, while Musa Bilankulu scored the solitary goal for Arrows.
Mashego is now on 13 League goals, one ahead of Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker.
Chenene gave Swallows the lead in the 12th minute when he connected with a good cross from Siyabonga Nomvete and headed home from close range.
Masonwabe Bovu fired a warning shot at the Swallows defence when he unleashed a low shot which goalkeeper Greg Etafia did well to parry; the ball landed back into play but his defenders were on hand to clear the danger.
Swallows were inches from doubling their advantage in the 38th minute when Luvhengo Mungomeni’s cross from the right flank was headed just wide of goal from close range by Nomvete, with the Arrows defence at his mercy.
Chenene got his second goal of the night four minutes from the half-time break, when he met Lefa Tsutsulupa’s through ball, fending off Thanduyise Khuboni and beating the keeper to make it 2-0.
Arrows applied some pressure on the Swallows defence in the first 15 minutes of the second half, and their attack showed some fight but it lacked sharpness.
Swallows went on the counter-attack, finding the Arrows defence all at sea, and Mashego broke out from his own half and went one-on-one with young Arrows keeper Ricardo Goss, who could only get a touch on his close range shot as it rolled into the net.
Bilankulu scored from close range in the 89th minute, but three minutes later Mashego finished off another counter attack and blasted the ball into the back of the net.
