‘Cheeseboy’ to return next season

Lebohang Mokoena mising for Mamelodi Sundowns until next year

Posted: 19 March 2013 Time: 10:16 am

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Mokoena will miss the rest of the season as he battles to recover after a hip operation last year.

The last time ‘Cheeseboy’ played for Sundowns in an official match was on September 2 in a 2-1 loss to Maritzburg United at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

KickOff.com has confirmed with Sundowns spokesperson Kabelo Mosito that Mokoena, who it was reported would be out for six weeks after the operation towards the end of last year, will in fact not be able to add to his four starts for the Brazilians this season.

“Cheese will only return next season, so he won’t play this season,” Mosito confirms.

Meanwhile, Punch Masenamela, who was operated on his knee in December, is in the final stages of his recovery process and could still play some part for Sundowns this season.

I always wonder what happened to this immensely talented player. As a young star playing in Pirates development, he had great promise. I used to go to their games to watch them. During his time at the Jnr national teams, he was the star. All opposition coached all over the world marvelled at his talent & all agreed that future BB must be built around him.... What went wrong?

This is one guy in the whole of South African football that I feel sorry for because I actually belive that Cheeseboy is the most skillful and quickest (Not fastest \"Segolela\") player in the PSL. When this boy is on form, he can open any defense with his quick footwork and mad skills. The only problem is that he is 2ooo prone to injuries.

What a player, he represent SA in all levels..A league Champion with Orlando Pirates, I remember Cheese, Continental(RIP BHAKANIYA), Makhanya, Vilakazi, Slow Poison, Marshalled by Old John at the back, those were the days & Sis Zodwa looking after them,a mother figure to these youngsters. Do not loose hope Cheese, Only God can take away what you have, not even Bobbyjan can Mbombela it.

herewith the list of the players that came to Sundowns and flourished. you wanted 3 but I gave you an extra one for free, as a KC fan I know you are associated with freebees.
1. Gaxa ( went overseas)
2. Xulu ( he's overseas)
3. Masinamela ( started playing for BB after joining MS)
4. Mphela ( he became a regular BB player after joining MS)

Thanks for your input Sandawana , however I disagree on these lads
Siboniso Gaxa ,Masinamela and Mphela ..they were already established players in PSL doing the same thing they were doing @ their previous clubs SSU and Chiefs,

Regarding Siyanda Xulu…..I agree 100% with you
