Mnaqoba Mngqithi hits out at referee Jerome Damon over Masonwabe Bovu red card

Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi has hit out at referee Jerome Damon’s decision to show Masonwabe Bovu a red card during the 1-0 Nedbank Cup defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in Tshwane last night.

The midfielder was shown a second yellow for a foul on Hlompho Kekane, allowing the Brazilians to go on and score an 81st-minute winner through Anthony Laffor.

“We came with a plan,” Mngqithi said after the game. “And we were looking good until the referee decided to go crazy. That craziness resulted in us losing.”

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was understandably happy with the win that sees them into the quarterfinals.

“They gave us a hard time until they were reduced to 10 men,” Jingles said. “However, this is football … it happened to us against Swallows. “

He added: “Against Ajax we didn't play well but got the result, but it’s a cup game and today again we didn’t play that well but got the result. We needed this win to bounce back … I’m happy that we are winning.”

Mosimane also praised Laffor for his goal, saying: “It was an unbelievable goal. I spoke to my players before the game saying that we score difficult goals and miss easy chances. It needed guts and technique to score that goal and Laffor showed that he is an international player.”

Catch the wake up former Bafana bafana coach this style of football you play in Downs does not score goals,I wonder do you ever go back and check how many goals Sundowns have scored since you took over as the head coach in how many goals?

The referee was very harsh. Enklek we nolonger having referees. Our so-called 'experienced' referees damon, theron, bennet, gcubule etc have turned to be crazy as manqoba said.

So I think useless and single coaches like Roger De sa should take over as a referee.

Not too bad performance by sundowns, n be cool mnqithi they robbed us a penalty last week n thats part of football, benni also got awful red in mtn cup 1st half n then ssu came to us

Manqoba that's football brother some decision we'll go against u and some will benefit u, remember how Sundowns lost that cup final against Celtics last season and another thing hitting the posts doesn't mean u scored. This is a blessing in disguise concentrate on the league coz Arrows is not safe from relegation.

manqoba, ref gave Langerman a red card when playing Arrows on the game we supposed to win when you're still coaching chipa, then we did't cry. Why you cry now? On Swallows game, ref gave a soft red card to Mwanjali, we didn't cry because we knew that's football. Just accept a defeat man. Remember Rats were denied a clear penalty recently on a game i was expecting them to win. So what happened, a ref saw a different way. DOWN KA BO YELLOW

ja Manqoba they robbed you when Khune did not walk when he viciously attacked with a two footed knockdown in eighteen area nothing was done and in the same game cow Gaxa clumsily tripped Gabuza in the box and nothing was given and Chiefs went on and won that game 2-1 and i am not talking about crazy decisions hat robbed the DTC BUCS of clear victories in both derbies and referes continue to protect that brute Katsande they always look the other way....

Mngqity u can kp crying as much as u like but da fact iz u lost & dat wnt changed.I agree wt u our refs r rily crazy,taking bad decision in crucial matches eg Telkom cup given to Celtic without scoring a goal,Pirates denied penalty last week in derby.Infact more of bad decisions cost other teams & FSS r the realy victim in dyc decision.Accept defeat as it is,refs win game dyz daez.Hard luck baba.KBY Masandawana.
