Drog, Mourinho reunited in UCL draw

Galatasaray against Real Madrid in UEFA Champions League

Posted: 16 March 2013 Time: 09:35 am

Didier Drogba will line up against his former boss Jose Mourinho in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid beat Manchester United in the last 16 and have now booked a date with Galatasaray, for whom Drogba made his full debut in the previous round.

But the pick of the draw will see last season’s beaten finalists, Bayern Munich, up against runaway Serie A leaders Juventus, who are yet to lose a game in this season’s Champions League.

Another high-profile match will be that of favourites Barcelona against big-spending French outfit Paris Saint Germain, who count in their ranks former Nou Camp star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The other fixture sees two of this season’s surprise-packages, Malaga and Borussia Dortmund, face each other.

Ties will take place on 2-3 April and 9-10 April.

KESHI REPLIES I cannot forget Emenike
Posted by: Patrick Ngwaogu, Abuja on March 17, 2013 in Sports Leave a comment

• Faults change in telephone line
• Says my players are very important to me
Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi has described as unfair the recent statement credited to his power player Emmanuel Emenike that he abandoned him after sustaining injury at the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where he emerged as the highest goal scorer of the tournament.
Emenike sustained an harmstring injury in the semi-final match against Mali, which ended four goals to one in favour of the Nigerians. Emenike was quoted as saying that he was used and dumped by the NFF and chief coach Stephen Keshi.
Reacting in a chat with SportingLife on Saturday, the Big Boss said though he does not want to join issues with players again, but the player was not fair to him, by changing his telephone line and refused to reach him on his new line.
“I have tried severally to reach him, but at every point his telephone line was on answering machine. I also know that the Secretary of the team made efforts to call him but to no avail. At those points that I tried reaching him, I always dropped messages on the answering machine. I had thought that if he decided to change his telephone line, he should have communicated me with his new lines immediately, so that we can reach him to know how he is faring,” Kwshi said.
The former International said he cannot forget the player, and will be ready to call him immediately his new telephone number is made available.
“My players are very important to me, and I cannot reject them in their trying periods. If he makes his number available now, I will reach him immediately,” he concluded.

The Nigerian was involved in a transfer-deadline day saga on January 31 when he was so convinced he had sealed a move that he rushed to QPR and gave a television interview referring to the west London club as \"we\".

West Brom later said he did not have permission to speak to QPR and disciplined him for his \"unprofessional conduct\".

Odemwingie, who has scored five league goals this season, has appeared four times for the club since then with all of them as a substitute.

\"Keeping me on the bench now is worst than what they did on the 31st,\" he wrote on his Twitter account.

\"If they like they shouldn't even give me 10 mins to play. Threatening to ruin my career? Career I closed already last summer? No harm to me.\"

Odemwingie, who came on as a 67th minute substitute in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Stoke City, has one season left on his West Brom contract.
