Nigeria's Under-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, beat Botswana 3-0 on Saturday in the first-leg of a two-legged friendly encounter played at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
The match was part of the preparations for the African Under-17 Championship which will commence next month in Morocco.
Debutant and former national Under-15 striker Taiwo Awoniyi put Nigeria ahead in the 16th minute, before Ifeanyi Matthew extended the Golden Eaglets lead around the half-hour mark.
Awoniyi headed in a cross from Musa Yahaya to complete his brace and seal the win for the hosts.
Nigeria are placed in Group B along with Congo, Ivory Coast and Ghana. While Botswana will have to face Gabon, Morocco and Tunisia in Group A.
