Orlando Pirates have now conceded seven goals in two matches, as Moroka Swallows fought back from two goals down to take the points this evening.
Sifiso Myeni’s early goal and an Andile Jali penalty were not enough for Bucs, after Katlego Mashego, Lefa Tsutsulupa and Lerato Chabangu rallied the Birds with a goal each.
Pirates missed the chance to go top of the Premiership table and remain second on 40 points, two fewer than Kaizer Chiefs.
The defending League champions had a dream start to the match and took the lead in the first minute, after a quick counter-attack resulted in Takesure Chinyama sending a through-ball to Myeni, who shot low past Greg Etafia.
Three minutes later Happy Jele swung in a brilliant cross from the right to the back post where Daine Klate hit a left-footed volley into the ground and forced a good save from Etafia.
Klate was again denied by the keeper in the 25th minute when his free-kick from 20 metres was tipped over the bar.
Pirates were handed the chance to double their lead when Roger da Costa was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box.
Jali stepped up and sent Etafia the wrong way with a low, right-footed shot.
As half-time loomed a former Pirates player made brought Swallows back into the game.
Dikgang Mabalane outran the Pirates defence on the right and sent in a low cross to an unmarked Mashego, who slotted home from 12 metres.
Next, Mabalane hit a powerful shot from range which beat Senzo Meyiwa and then rebounded off the post for Swallows skipper Tsutsulupa to head home from close range.
Mashego then turned provider when he floated a free-kick into the danger area and Chabangu flicked a header beyond Meyiwa to seal a remarkable comeback.
