Free State Stars beat First Division club Witbank Spurs to make it to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup on Sunday.
Spurs goalkeeper Briace Msiza was kept busy in the first half, while at the other end Kennedy Mweene hardly had a save to make.
Msiza tipped over a scorcher from distance on half an hour to keep his side in the game.
Five minutes later, however Coldrin Coetzee hit a long-range strike that was deflected, sending Msiza the wrong way, to give Ea Lla Koto the lead.
Stars then sat back, seemingly content with their one-goal cushion, and not facing a lot of trouble from the visitors.
Spurs had their best chance of the match on the hour mark, but even then Mweene did not have to extend himself particularly to make the save.
In the final minutes Stars were awarded a controversial free-kick just outside the box, and Dove Wome came close to stretching the lead, but he hit high and wide, and the hosts had to be happy with a 1-0 win.
