Fall from grace for Stekelenberg

Maarten Stekelenburg to coach Amsterdamsche FC

Posted: 22 February 2013 Time: 7:58 am

Former Ajax Cape Town coach Maarten Stekelenburg is back in his homeland of Holland where is due to take over the head coaching responsibilities at third tier league club Amsterdamsche FC in the new season.

Information reaching KickOff.com from the Dutch capital is that Stekelenburg has already agreed to take over from Cor Ten Bosch at the Topklasse – Zondag (Top Class – Sunday) league club next season.

AFC (Amsterdamsche FC), who are based in Stekelenburg’s home town of Amsterdam – currently sit in position 13, the relegation play-off position with 20 points from 18 games.

Word is that Stekelenburg will take over in the new season but is already thrown a keen interest in the proceedings at the club.

Stekelenburg was fired by Ajax last October after a difficult start to the season that left the Urban Warriors in a bottom half position that they are still battling to get out from four months later.

The 40 year-old had been in charge for 15 months.

Gezzz kick off, this is not really a fall from from grace, a fall from grace is what happened to Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi who played 4 Orlando Pirates and was on the fringes of the Bafana set up but after Owen "Dlala Ngemali" Da Gama was sacked, he's career has been on a free fall ever since, the last tym i saw him he was warming the bench at Thanda Royal Zulu!
This was a talented boy i tell u!
