Kaizer Chiefs slam booing fans at Soccer City

Posted: 18 February 2013 Time: 21:34

Kaizer Chiefs have hit out at a section of their fans for booing players during matches.

The club was referring to incidents during Saturday evening’s 2-1 win against Free State Stars, when a section of the crowd starting jeering the players and were doing hand signals for the coach to makes substitutions.

The club have hit out at the behaviour, saying “it needs to be stopped as a matter of urgency”.

A statement on their website read: “Kaizer Chiefs would like to condemn in the strongest possible terms the behaviour by a section of ‘supporters’ at the home game against Free State Stars in a league encounter played on Saturday, 16 February 2013.

“The club observed with utter disgust the booing of certain players coupled with the hand and whistling demonstrations signalling to try and force the technical team to effect substitutions. This phenomenon is persisting in our football and needs to be stopped as a matter of urgency.”

Corporate Communications Manager Vina Maphosa believes that some fans arrive at the stadium simply to cause problems.

“Fans arrive at the stadium with intentional bad behaviour; the point in case was perfectly illustrated in this particular game as bad behaviour by some ‘supporters’ started as early as the ninth minute of the game,” he tells the club’s official website.

“This behaviour is orchestrated and premeditated – the players were booed at the first touch of the ball while abuse was hurled to the players. We have also noted that the perpetrators occupy strategic seating – but the most worrying factor is that by the look of things the boo-brigade arrives at the stadium prepared to cause chaos.”

Dear Sir Maphosa

Plain language, English in this instance would be more welcome. Do you know your target audience? Please use the words most of your fans are familiar with. You rebuke is more like the 'anger' of political young guns trying to feel intimidative. Kindly use simpler words my dear brother. After all that is the basic rule in PR/ Journalism and/or Communication.

Is this guy new to football or what. We travel long distance to watch the game, and we buy merchandise and all. We are entitled to our opinion and damn we know our football. This fool must shut up and tell those who are not performing to lift up their game.

Please don't make out OP supporters to be angels. You and I both know that their behaviour is similar, in many ways, to the one mentioned above.

Its not just a chiefs or a pirates issue. Its fans who expect instant results. When a player makes a mistake, the fans go crazy. However players also need to understand that its not just kickin the ball, they need to fight and show dedication- with that being said, booing of players as early as the 9th minute is not on. Fans need to be educated. Workshops and roadtrips need to be organized by the clubs to curb this mampara behaviour. Up the bucs!

Write whatever you like, but the truth of the matter is Chiefs and Pirates supporters act the same way when things don't seem to go as they expected.

The team is not doing well and is the 70min on the clock, a certain player is not on form on the day and we can all see he is costing the team we love and passionate about, the technical team is pretending as if nothing is wrong and we are a goal down no substitude is made what do you expect, we will voice out our concern. They don't know how much we spend to be there on the stadium and how it is like to be a loughing stock of Orlando Pirates supprters, being told that we are holding an umbrella for them. If you want us to stop booing give us 100% all the time, Chiefs is a big club that means more pressure and players should know playing for Chiefs comes with pressure, it's almost 8years since we won the league, we as fans we hungry for the league

I hope the culprits smell the aroma of this statement! Its obvious the Gorrilas and Zikhothane are behind this, a croop of illiterate fools and no comparison by any standards!

Reason being: 1st, the izikhothane fans some of them r currently going prosecution after their bleak start to the current season. 2nd, di Gorrila the least said about them, they ounce torched FNB stadia and use to beat Chiefs fans!

Please we need SAPS intervention, we cannot allow this brood of vipers to harras our players!

Gold the only high standard!!!
