The name change was one of the decisions arrived at in Friday’s meeting for the draws of the upcoming season which kicks off on March 9.
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has also been renamed as the League Management Committee (LMC).
The League is still faced with financial challenges as a result of a breakdown in interaction between the companies fighting over the league sponsorship rights.
However, there appears to be a silver lining in the dark cloud as the Federal Government has promised to give the LMC a financial grant to enable the new NPFL season to commence as planned.
Only week one fixtures for the new season have been released. The remaining fixtures will be released when the dates are sorted out to align with CAF's football calendar to prevent a clash in fixtures or fixture congestion for clubs like Kano Pillars, Enugu Rangers, Lobi stars and Heartlandm who will represent Nigeria on the continent this season.
