Alexander cannot play for a third club in this case Vasco da Gama this season as he has already been registered with the PSL by Ajax Cape Town and Chippa United so far this season.
Article 5 on the Fifa regulations on the status and transfer of players states that - 'Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs…'
The midfielder started the season at Ajax who despite not using him registered him with the PSL and had him as an unused substitute for their League match against Moroka Swallows on August 22, 2012 at Dobsonville Stadium.
Just before the close of the transfer window on August 31 Ajax then loaned Alexander to city neighbours Chippa United where he went on to feature for the struggling League rookies.
Then last month Chippa decided to offload him and send him back to Ajax who then in turn shipped him off on another loan-deal to Vasco.
As Vasco attempted to register him – after agreeing on the terms of his contracts – with the PSL they were then informed by Jonathan Schloss – the assistant general manager at PSL – that they cannot register him this season due to the Fifa regulations.
Alexander has now headed back to Chippa – who have agreed to continue paying his salary till the end of the original season long loan agreement that they had with Ajax when the 23 year-old arrived at the beginning of the season.
However, Chippa have not indicated if they will use him for the rest of the season despite the agreement to take him back.
Meanwhile, Ugandan defender Timothy Batabaire started training with Vasco this morning.
Batabaire is on a club hunting mission after being offloaded by Bidvest Wits at the end of last season and has already had fruitless trials at AmaZulu.
