Nigeria dominated the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament, making up almost half of the 11 players selected.

The Super Eagles won their third title by beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the Final at Soccer City last night, but there is no room in the tournament’s best XI for the scorer, Sunday Mba.

Instead, his strike-partner and top scorer Emmanuel Emenike got the nod, alongside Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan.

Victor Moses, John Obi Mikel, Efe Ambrose and Enyeama make the up the Nigeria contingent, while Burkina Faso have two representatives in Bakary Kone and Player of the Tournament Jonathan Pitroipa.

Ghana, who finished third, also have Wakaso Mubarak in the side, while Cape Verde (Nando Maria Neves) and Mali (Seydou Keita) have one each.

Team of the Tournament
Vincent Enyeama (Nigeria)
Bakary Koné (Burkina Faso)

Jonathan Pitroipa (Burkina Faso)
Wakaso Mubarak (Ghana)

I will urge all Nigerians visiting this blog to be magnanimous in victory, watch their utterances (by emulating Keshi who is still humble in victory) and ignore any provocative comments from other nationals on this blog

Are my eyes deceiving me or am I seeing Gyan's name on that list? What did Gyan do to make team of the tournament? Can we all see now how CAF is favoring Ghana? with all the penalties they received and other calls that were made in their favor, now this?

In the words of Drogba, it's a F'ing disgrace.

"Mikel Obi is a silent killer,in the field he puts on no airs, his touches are pinpoint, the young man is the hub of the Eagles.Yet he carries everybody along. If the Nations Cup were another World War,i would call him Field Marshall Montgomery.I see a crown on his head as the Most Valuable Player[MVP] of this tournament."---Kalu Nwankwo. My brother King kanu, this fact is not debatable . Sir Alex Ferguson and Morinho ( and other world class coaches) cannot all be wrong. Mikel is an 'oxygen' for Super Eagles. Congrats to my darling Super Eagles, i'm not surprised at all. I don shout so tee my voice don crack, wetin i won talk sef ?? Baba God I thank you welu welu. Up Nigeria ! Up Super Eagles ! Up Steven Keshi ! Up John-Obi-next-captain-Mikel. Mikel is the man to lead Nigeria to Brazil and we should expect some fireworks. If there is any African country capable of winning the World Cup, it's Nigeria. Una dey doubt am ??? Stay tuned...na so i dey talk o.

@Kleptox thanks for your comments. Let them SA not respect us. We will win again the next time they host us in the AFCON. Whatever the competition in football, so long as we are participating and they are host we will win it. You name it, we've so many completions they hosted with us participating regarding football. What about the female version of AFCON. Football is our tradition, we don't ply it with the mouth but on the pitch. We are the Champions of Africa for the next 2 years whether they like it or not.
