Keshi 'happy' for Pitriopa

Nigeria coach Keshi 'happy' for Pitriopa ahead of Africa Cup of Nations Final

Posted: 10 February 2013 Time: 2:28 pm

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has applauded CAF's decision to overturn Jonathan Pitriopa's red card.

The Burkinabe forward was booked for simulation, and subsequently sent off but replays showed he was clipped.

Keshi, whose Super Eagles play Pitriopa's Stallions in Sunday's African Nations Cup Final, says CAF did the correct thing.

"I applaud the decision taken by CAF because if you look at the video, he didn't deserve a red card," Keshi said.

"Playing in a final doesn't come very often, and to deny him the chance to play is unfair. I'm very happy for Jonathan."

Keshi was also pleased that fans would get a chance to see one of the continent's best players on show.

"And it's also good for the fans. Because you don't want to pay money and not watch the best players."

The Nigeria coach insisted however, that his preparations for the game have not been affected.

"No, we have continued to prepare the same way."

Im also happy Keshi, coz if he wasnt there, there were going to be a lot of excuses that if he was there.Today's ref and his lines men must be firm to their decision and not listen to the crowd as we know that most of the fans will be backing Barkina Faso.

That was a very reasonable/objective comment by Couch Stephen Keshi. More oil to your already flexible muscles.

The Super Eagles must force 2 early goals to silence the croud, then the job would be much easier. The players must remain disciplined and avoid arguing with the ref coz the ref may take advantage to send them off,as sending the SE off will be the only stop to their glory.God bess the SE.

Great attitude by Coach Keshi. He reminds me of the ever humbled ghanaian coach, Mr Appiah himself. Both Nigeria and Burkina Faso have worked very hard to get to the final. May the best and deserving team win tonight.

What really happened to Super Eagles backflip style of goal celebration?Julius Aghahowa,Celestine Babayaro,Obafemi Martins,Obinna Nzofor. So none of our current players backflips?.That was our ways of celebration, not to match the ground like Ghanaian.I miss these above mentioned backflip goal celebrators.

Some people now start to jealous o. This is how they said Cote d'voire will destroy us, we all know what happen, the rest is history. Just wait and see, we Nigerians dont brag on the page of newspaper, we do our talk on the field as we have doing it so far in this tournament, and today will not be difference.
