Gilbert left with Chippa on Saturday for their training camp in Port Elizabeth and has already convinced the club that he is worthy of being signed as a replacement for Martin Moonsamy, who has been released.
Contract talks will be pushed when the Chilli Boys return to Cape Town tomorrow.
The former Free State Stars player had been training at Ajax Cape Town, where new Chippa coach Wilfred Mugeyi had a close look at him when he was still at Ikamva.
Chippa officials have confirmed to KickOff.com that they will definitely be bringing in the 26-year-old, who attracted controversy during his time at Free State where the club claimed he had been Awol for six months before they eventually parted ways with him.
