Ivory Coast midfielder Emmanuel Eboue says he has no connection with the poster who has been slagging Nigerians off on micro-blogging network Twitter.
Nigeria play Eboue's Ivory Coast today in Rustenburg, and the Ivorian midfielder says he was upset at the impostor.
"That is not me. I would never ever do that or say such things," he said. "I don’t use Twitter or Facebook.
"As soon as I heard what he was saying, I called my friend John Mikel Obi and told him that that was not me.
"I also called Kanu (former Nigeria captain) and explained to him that it was not me.
"They were both very understanding and told me not to worry."
Kanu told KickOffNigeria.com that he had indeed spoken to Eboue, "He called me and told me that he doesn’t have any account on Twitter and Facebook and he is not the one saying all those things."
Ivory Coast are the runaway favourites to claim honours on the day, but Eboue says it will not be that straightforward
"Nigeria have a good, young team and although Nigerians think that they are inexperienced, it will not be an easy game.
"We thank God for giving us the opportunity to be here and we hope that we can win and go to the semi-finals."
Kick-Off is at 16h00 local time
