“This is a massive loss to the South African football family. [Krok] contributed a lot to the wellbeing of soccer in general and was the founding member of the PSL. He was the chair of Sundowns at a time when the club dominated local soccer,” Safa president Kirsten Nematandani says.
“He was a gentleman through and through and his incisive knowledge of the local game was invaluable. He will be greatly missed.
The PSL extended its heartfelt condolences to Krok’s family.
PSL chairman Irvin Khoza said: “Abie will always be remembered for the role he played in South African football. His contribution to the game will never be forgotten. He might be gone, but his legacy will live for a long time.
“On behalf of all the PSL clubs, both Premiership and National First Division, I would like to offer my condolences to his family during this difficult period.”
