Fernandez has been elbowed off from being first choice at SuperSport by Ronwen Williams since the beginning of last season and is keen on a move that will guarantee him game time.
However, though Fernandez needs to play he is faced with weighing up his options as he has family matters to also contend with as his wife is due to give birth in March.
Should the two clubs come to an agreement Fernandez will have to make the call about whether he stays on and be close to family in Gauteng or moves down to Cape Town and get to play regularly.
On the other end Roberts just got married in December and will also have some family related decisions to make.
Roberts is currently on a long-term contract with the Urban Warriors that has seen him plan his immediate future in the Mother City.
