Maritzburg United defender Mohammed Awal says he is keen to focus on the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana, even though he is aware of the controversy surrounding his future with Orlando Pirates in the market for him.
Awal has been at the centre of claims and counter claims between Pirates and Maritzburg United about his future and while the Ghana international is keen for it to be sorted out quickly, he is also adamant he doesn't want it to affect him.
"I am aware there has been interest, but also aware of the issues surrounding it,” he tells KickOff.com. "I want to leave everything with the club to sort out while I focus on getting into the Ghana side at least for now."
Awal, who has previously played for Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Ghana and ASEC Mimosa in Ivory Coast, won't be drawn on whether he is interested in a switch except to say a decision will have to be made by Maritzburg.
"At the end of the day I have a three-year contract with the club at the moment so it is all up to them.”
