The Orlando Pirates striker was part of Gordon Igesund’s original squad, but was cut before the final 23 players were selected because of injury.
However, McCarthy insists he is full behind Bafana and will be shouting loudest at Soccer City tonight.
“Wishing Bafana Bafana all the very best for Afcon 2013. Hope they go out there and display the kind of play we know they can play and unite this beautiful country again in celebration of their victories.
“The Nation is fully behind them and we looking forward to seeing them playing in the Final. GOOD LUCK BOYS!!!”
McCarthy announced his arrival on the international scene when he scored seven goals as Bafana reached the Final at the 1998 Nations Cup, where they lost to Egypt.

Your comments on this story...
Good luck to them anyway and all those that will be investing their emotions in this team. I sincerely hope you win. As for me, no thanks
Sure Benni we rallying behind Bafana, even though we know after they win there's a certain group of idiots that will claim that glory must go to them, they will want all the credit to go to
them stupids.

Just like when a certain bunch of idiots on this forum associate every negative result of Bafana Bafana to Chiefs right... Your selective memory is amazing jou rubberneck.
Back to the article. Benni, I know very well your \"well wishes\" for these palookas is fake. You know and I know that deep down all seven of those Zebras in that team are not better than you. No need to mention Mphela as he'll only reach your Bafana goal tally on his 100th national cap. So in a nutshell the least said about him in the same sentence with you, the better.
As for Parcow, yoh, where do I start? Nc nc nc. Maybe on his 200th Cap but even then it'll be a cold day in hell if he reaches your national goal tally. So no further comment on this fish lips excuse of a striker.
Shapa Cape Verde, SHAAPAAAA!
Gave this squad my heart and soul in 2009 and 2010 and was deeply dissapointed. Thought the Pirates 7 year drought had me
immune to feeling dissapointed but these guys went out of their way to prove me wrong and prove me wrong they did. The very same failures are the ones whose hopes the country rests on. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is an indication of madness. Sorry but I can't subject my self to more heartache because logic dictates
that will be the end result with these failures. Good luck to them anyway and all
those that will be investing their emotions in this team. I sincerely hope you win. As for me, no
thanks.

Really now we heard enough of your negativity chief, no one is forcing you to support our national team. I mean whats forcing you to bitch around here if indeed you dont give a fu.ck about BB. Go and support 10 times African champions(Zambia) since you dont want to associate yourself with underachievers... Oh I forgot they are 1 time African champions just like our own mediocre Bafana Bafana. Soccer was not meant for cry sisters like you.
Dont bother your head to reason with me. Before the end of today's game your eyes will be force to see where i draw my posit from.
WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!!
