Masinga: Have faith in 'Killer'

Former Bafana Bafana striker Phil ‘Chippa' Masinga reckons Katlego Mphela can deliver the much needed Afcon goals

Former Bafana Bafana striker Phil ‘Chippa' Masinga reckons the current national team marksman Katlego Mphela can deliver the much needed goals in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

'Killer' was jeered when Bafana lost 1-0 to Norway on January 9 for missing a couple of clear-cut chances and he also didn't have the best of games during the goalless draw against Algeria three days later.

However, Masinga tells KickOff.com that he believes Mphela, who has scored 23 goals in 49 appearances for the national team, is the right man for the job for Saturday's clash against Cape Verde in the Afcon opener.

"I will start with Katlego, maybe support him with one more striker… He showed us against Norway that he is a quality striker by forcing the Norway goalkeeper to make two saves. If he got it right, we could have been 2-0 up, but bear in mind he has just returned from a knee injury so he was not so sharp," Masinga argues.

"Against Algeria, he also had a good chance and though he didn't take it, it shows he is a kind of striker who is capable of getting us the goals. All we have to do is have faith in him and having said that, we must have faith in the entire team," Masinga adds.

What has he done recently..lets start naming people who deliver recently...he is a good striker but he turn to fail in big occassions in WC he was so casual...this a second chance for him to market himself for overseas...football brains must be dishing us the winning partnership up front middle and defence not everyone say the same thing Mphela, back Mphela, Mphela can do the job for us...This is the Team guys...commentators must tell us what type of support strike force need to get goals, because they are the ones who put pressure on the Boy...now...

Killer is a gud striker, no doubt, but from what i have seen in those friendly gamse this guy is still too far from international fitness standards.

Ok let us look at the mediocre squad Gordon have. He have 2 of the top goal scorers in the league in Majoro and Parker. He is using Parker on the left wing where he is not effective and he is using Majoro on the stands. So where will goals come from.

Anyway not as if i care.

1.WHAT GI MUST REMEMBER & EXPECT
a.CAF do us a favour to participate in AFCON & we must expect miracles to qualify 4 the 2nd round.

2.WHAT CRITERIA IGESUND USED TO SELECT PLAYERS
a.Was it experience or perfomance of players from their teams.
b.If it was experience, then Shabba perfomance from his team was very poor.Even Chiefs fans booed him week in week out .Winning or loosing,he was always a culprit.
c.Why did he left Teko from the squard. We all know what Teko can do inside the field.Maybe Igesund didnt select him because his team is not winning games. There is no player who is creative than Teko.Serero is good ,but I am worried about his match fitness.
3.SELECTION OF MPHELA & SERERO
a.Dis two players ar very good, but what I am worried about is their match fitness, because they ar both coming from long layoffs. If they ar 100% fit, they can start the game.

GUIDE TO IGESUND

4.FORMATION DAT HE MUST USE
4-4-2 is S.A formation,not that 4-5-1

5. STARTING ELEVEN
1.Khune
2.Ncongca
3.Matlaba or Masilela
4.Khumalo
4.Sangweni
6.Furman(Defending)
6.Letsholonyane(Attacking)
8.Phala or Shabangu
10.Serero
9.Parker(collecting)
9.Mphela(Sticking

Bra Phil you can count on me...

I have faith on Killer..

We might have not all played at the highest level but some of us appreciate/understand the hard work Mpela has put after a long layoff.

The least I can do is to support him and The National team.

Good luck Killer..
