The long-serving midfielder will see his current deal with the club end on 30 June, 2013.
The Zimbabwean international, currently playing with a renewed self-belief and high fitness level, has forced himself into the starting line-up yet again.
The 32-year-old and his agent Ryan Hartslief met with Downs management to discuss a potential new deal, but nothing has been finalised yet.
Nyandoro is hoping to conclude a deal with his club this week, which should see him go past the 2014 season and reach 10 years with the club.
"The president of the club, Patrice Motsepe, has been good to me and I enjoy a healthy relationship with the club. I look forward to pledging my future to the club," Nyandoro says.
