The coach, who led South Africa to a famous Africa Cup of Nations tournament victory in 1996, was impressed with the Atlas Lions, but says he reckons Bafana are the better team.
Bafana face Morocco at Moses Mabhida Stadium on January 27 in their last Group game.
“Morocco are a good team and they have proved that [on Wednesday],” Barker tells Wits’ official website.
“They had some skilful players who are capable of individual brilliance and they gave our defence a good working out.
“But having seen them play tonight, I am confident that Bafana can do well against them. Comparing Morocco to Bafana based on this match, I think we will beat them in the Nations Cup.”

Shut the bark off wena Barker. beat your 1st opponent as a Wits coach before extending you mouth.

respect barker you idiot.. he is the only coach who has won the afcon.... your grandfather cant do that... bunch of clowns tryna act like they know what disky is.. #### you bitch.
Till today you still have not given the bloggers your SA best 11 who you would prefer to represent the country.
We also want you to recommend a coach who you think can do a better job than Gordon.
As long as you have not given us answers to the above, we will not take any of your essays serious.
NB: There is no point in complaining if you cannot recommend or provide a solution to a problem.
I pause......
Kanti uzwa kanjani? I can't speak zombie so that you would understand.
@ cmash,
I respect Barker, I wonder where you get the disrespect thingie from. But if truth is to be told, he was an average coach. This is based on the fact that if you take away the 3 weeks of AFCON 1996 in his career, nothing is left, only mediocrity. It is also important to remind you the the 1996 squad was coached by a panel of coaches & Barker was just a face.
He failed to qualify for the tournament in the 1st place, had it not been for the withdrawal of Kenya as a host, SA would have not played in 1996.
He failed to intergrate new players into BB. The likes of BBM17 would have been history if it was not for Jomo. This tendancy of not wanting to introduce young talent into BB is a Barker syndrom.
