Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa wants Orlando for CAF Champions League match

After an embarrassing 3-1 loss to Recreativo do Libolo in Port Elizabeth last year, Orlando Pirates Roger de Sa wants to keep their CAF Champions League matches at Orlando Stadium this season.

Bucs play Comoros side Djabal FC in a Champions League first round clash in a month’s time, but have not yet finalised the venue.

The match will be played on the weekend of February 16-17.

"We are not sure where the game will be played yet and I am not sure what commitments the club has to other venues," De Sa told Sowetan.

"Obviously, we will have to respect any decisions that are taken on where the game will be played, but I am definitely in favour of keeping the game at 'home' in Orlando Stadium."

Last year Bucs took their Champions League clash against Angolan side Recreativo do Libolo to Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, where they lost 3-1, and the club was criticised for taking the match away from Orlando.

First of all RDS.... Every stadium is home...Whether Soccer City where we clash with the Thieves, or Cape Town where we outnumber our opponents at the stadium. Everywhere is home.

But you are right....Take the game to The Slaughter House.

Lastly.... We are going to the group stages of CAF

The Slaughter House is the place my coach. Personally i have season tickets for the Slaughter house, i never miss a game at Orlando.


Can we please have only those with experience of the Champions league commenting on this article, we always leave people to comment on their Macufe spectacular, so for a change they should let us discuss the our CAF tourney.

Yes good decision.. Gabarone and Libolo knocked us out in the same stadium.. ths yr we dont want 2 let the history repeat itself. Bebey mutombo managed 2 go all the way wthout quality.. nw its De Sa's tym.
