Hunt confirms Khenyeza/Grobler swap deal

SuperSport United coach Gaving Hunt confirms Mabhuti Khenyeza/Bradley Grobler swap deal

Posted: 15 January 2013 Time: 10:52 pm

Mabhuti Khenyeza is set to leave SuperSport United and make a return to Ajax Cape Town, with Bradley Grobler going the other way.

Our sources spotted Khenyeza in Durban recently, but Matsatsantsa coach Gavin Hunt all but confirmed the deal on Talk Radio 702 tonight, telling presenter Udo Carelse: "There are still details, signing on fees, money paid to various players, stuff like that. But we'll look in to it, get it sorted out.

"We all know Mabhuti should be in double figures [in goals] by now. He wasn't happy here for whatever reason. And Bradley wasn't getting on well down there. So now we'll make them both happy.

"You know how it is, these things will get done in the end."

Khenyeza left Mamelodi Sundowns on a free transfer in January 2012, but has played just five matches for SuperSport this season, and is yet to find the back of the net.

The 30-year-old striker was rumoured to have been frozen out at SuperSport owing to ill discipline, rumours Hunt denied on KickOff.com in November.

However, Khenyeza did not report back to SuperSport for pre-season, amid strong rumours of an Ajax move, and Hunt admitted to KickOff.com he did not know where the player was.

Khenyeza spent a successful 2008/09 season at Ajax, scoring 16 goals.

Grobler, who signed for The Urban Warriors in July last year from Turkish club Göztepe, has struggled for form in Cape Town, and has scored just three goals this season as Ajax languish near the bottom of the log.

This Khenyeza guy is full of himself. He thinks too highly of himself. He should have been a regular in the national team as we speak bu the thinks he's God given to SA soccer. How I wish Mushin Ertigral can re-join Ajax as well to teach this boy a lesson or two - Nxa !!

Mabhuti is doing what he thinks is best for his career. He does not want to work for an employer who does not appreciate his service. Who will? For Mabhuti if his service is no longer valued he packs his stuff and leave. I admire his courange unlike other players who will stay with team even if the coach have made it clear that the player is not in his future plan. Go Mabhuti Go.
