Mayambela holding out for Chiefs move

Mark Mayembela hoping to leave Orlando Pirates for Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 11 January 2013 Time: 2:31 pm

Chippa United boss Chippa Mpengesi tells KickOff.com they have given up on signing Mark Mayambela because the player is holding out for a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

The Chilli Boys had already agreed a transfer fee with Orlando Pirates for the midfielder, but have now decided to end all negotiations.

“We had offered the boy a three-year contract, but he only wanted to sign for six months,” Mpengesi tells KickOff.com. “I personally spoke to him to convince him to join Chippa United, but he told me he want to sign for six months hoping to join Kaizer Chiefs next season.”

Mpengesi adds: “I am disappointed because it looks like the boy wanted to use us to market himself. I made him a good offer and also wanted to give him the opportunity to return home to Cape Town and play in front of his own fans.

“He has not played football for almost a year and was guaranteed game-time at Chippa. But we have now withdrawn our interest because we can’t bring someone here whose heart is somewhere else.”

After signing Mark Mayambela from Orlando Pirates, Chippa United have now turned their attention to out-of-favour Kaizer Chiefs striker Abia Nale.

The Chilli Boys have been one of the busier teams during the transfer window as they look to make their debut season in the top-flight the first of many.

Chippa coach Farouk Abrahams confirms the interest in Nale, adding that he hopes to still land Erwin Isaacs from Bidvest Wits as well.

“The issue of Erwin Isaacs is now on hold after Wits appointed a new coach [Clive Barker]. We have to wait and see if that deal is still going to go through,” he tells KickOff.com.

“Our main focus now is to improve our performance and focus on our defence and up-front. We could have had five points more but we conceded soft goals. We have also been let down by poor finishing, though this is a problem all over the country, including Bafana Bafana.”

He adds: “We are working hard to rectify our mistakes and there is a lot of confidence in the camp. There is no doubt that we will retain our status next season.”

My ONLY worry about him joining Chiefs is that what happened to PHUMLANI MKHIZE might also happen to him

Phumlani Mkhize was asked to clean Bobby's gun and he shot his foot so Mark you better stay away from guns rather polosh Jessica's stretch-marked thighs like Masango is doing
