Pirates chasing Awal

Orlando Pirates could sign Maritzburg United defender Mohammed Awal

Posted: 2 January 2013 Time: 6:22 pm

Orlando Pirates could sign Maritzburg United defender Mohammed Awal during the January transfer window.

Pirates are on the lookout for a central defender and Awal, who has been in fine form for United and has made it into Ghana's provisional squad ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, appears to be their target.

Zambian midfielder Rainford Kalaba has also been linked with a move from TP Mazembe to join Bucs.

According to a source at Pirates, the club has already engaged both United and the player in bid to sign him.

"Kalaba and Awal remain our targets during this transfer window. The player is keen to join Pirates but it all will depend on whether Maritzburg United agree to release him during the January transfer window," the source says.

United boss Farook Kadodia sounded cagey when asked about the chances of the player joining Pirates in January.

"I can't comment. Why don't you call Pirates? Please call Pirates," Kadodia said.

Good, we needed a strong central defender as we were a bit short in that department, now Kalaba and Erasmus/Malajila/Kadi will do.

We are now in 2013, but some things just won't change..... COWments from Zebras are still senseless, dumb, stupid, below mediocre, intellectually challenged, whatever you choose to call them.

With Rooi 'Ingubo' Mahamutsa injured, Robyn Johannes also injured, RDS had to use Ayanda Gcaba as cover up in defense. He has of course performed well especially when Siyabonga 'Instimbi' Sangweni has been injured or suspended, but fact remains....his natural position is not central defense. This would be a good signing especially because we only expect Ingubo, my comforter to come back next season. And I am not quite sure what RDS' plans are with Johannes. the transfer window couldn't have opened at a better time

Its better to have more players which gives u better bargaining options than having less or none.

Pirates always chase quality n we love our chairman n magament. This defender is quality n if RDS n Screamer are happy, he can come on board.

Johanes wants to re-locate to Cape Town, so with Ngubo out for the season n Lucky aging, we need need a center back or Gcaba be converted permanently since Nzunga is also back to compete with Jele with Matlaba n Phungwayo. At Sangweni need to be rested.

I would have preferd a more young sourh african player like Mokeke but Dr Khoza knows best, OJ is also available n RDS knows him back.

OJ the prodical son has returned, the best defender ever in mzansi.

Oupa Mabuza, Gavin Lane, Innocent Mncwango, Roger Nzeng n Davies Mwape are also available on the market. Phela they're also fit as Benni, Msowoya and Mbesuma. It seems like that's how they describe fitness @ the gallaxies.

These MaZebras are complaining again, we know they don't buy players but they wait until the player becomes a free agent, so don't be jealous when we buy players as we can afford them, actually we can buy the whole of Kaizer Chiefs village, players and management.
