SA Legends beat Africa Legends in Durban

Posted: 22 December 2012 Time: 16:44

Soccer fans in Durban took a trip down memory lane when the South African Legends turned on the style to beat the African Legends 3-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

The game was played as a curtain-raiser to the international friendly between Bafana Bafana and Malawi.

The visitors, led by former Black Leopards coach Sheppard Morape, opened the scoring in the seventh minute through former Orlando Pirates striker Dennis Lota with a typical poacher’s finish.

It was a scoreline that remained into the break, but the decision to bring on Jerry 'Legs of Thunder' Sikhosane and Helman 'Midnight Express' Mkhalele turned the game.

Fani Madida levelled the scores when he netted from a corner, before Sikhosane and David Nyathi found the back of the net for the 3-1 scoreline.

Doctor Khumalo, Thabo Mooki, Shakes Kungwane, Mark Fish and Gvain Lane were some of the players that appeared for the SA Legends, whilst Ernest 'Wire' Mtawali, Abel Shongwe, Bunene Ngaduane, Wilfred Mugeyi and Patrick Mabedi played for the visitors.
