Johan Cruyff says Jose Mourinho's ‘negative behaviour' is behind Real Madrid's currently struggles

Posted: 21 December 2012 Time: 10:41

Former Netherlands captain Johan Cruyff says Jose Mourinho's ‘negative behaviour' is the reason behind Real Madrid's currently struggles.

Los Meringues are a massive 13 points behind League leaders Barcelona and we also dumped out of the Copa de Rey last week.

Cruyff, a Barca legend, says Mourinho can't keep living on past glories.

“His negative behaviour will always have its consequences. He thinks that his way of coaching is right and he justifies it by past results, but I believe it is wrong,” the Dutchman told Rac1.

Cruyff also feels that Madrid are now paying the price for not having a proper development system like the Blaugrana have.

“I am not surprised by what is happening at Madrid. This will always happen when your philosophy is to sign and gamble on big signings,” he adds.

“Homegrown players have more than just a contract with the club. They take the club to their heart. Transfers can bring in good players, but never for too long. Clubs need their youth system.”

If this guy is correct can someone please tell me if Real Madrid has not been buying big players long time ago! Didn't Real win the league by 9 point margin last season being coached by the same coach with a negative behavior? Why is he against the Real Madrid's youth system instead of focusing on Barca's? How did Real Madrid became 9 times Europeans Champs? If youth systems are the reason for club's success why is Ajax CT not ruling RSA?

Cruys is not against Real Madrid youth system for a simple reason. Its non existent. Yes Madrid won the league with their Galaxy stars they bought from other teams but we all know that without proper development there is no longetivity and remember all the 9 titles you sre refering to were not won by Maurinho, they were won by different coaches. He has not won any European title with his Galaxy stars that he spent millions on. Has he? When he won the champions league with Porto, he relied on the teams youth development players. When he won with Inter they had players that had with team for a while except for a selected few.

He made Chelsea buy expensive players but he again failed to win the champions league. Whether u like or not development work my friend. You mention Ajax Cape Town with ther youth structure and question their inability to dominate SA, forgeting that Ajax Cape Town is a selling team. They nature and export. To date a former Ajax Cape Town development player is the only SA player to have won the Champions league under Maurinho.

Serero is making a name for himself at Ajax Amsterdam. Teams that are dominating SA football are not renonwed for producing some of the world's top players. Do date which world class player has Orlando Pirates produced? Don't tell me about Fish because he is a product of Jomo Cosmos. Other than Radebe, and perhaps Shoes, which notable player has Chiefs produced, and Sundowns?

A simple fact: Barcelona is the world's best team because of its youth structures. The same can be said about Man United.

Its been like that with real madrid, nd they'll never change nd he only brought one player from Spurs 99% of those players he found them there nd he won the league, guys lets be honest Mo is the best coach, yes his style of play is not dat beautiful like Barcelona nd this madala is jealous including Spanish media.

Just a point of correction. Lucas Radebe is a product of Bopsol and not Chiefs. Showes is a product of Blackpool and not Chiefs. Just as Fish is a product of Cosmos. These players just became prominent at these big teams.

Just Shaaaaraaaap there you old-man talkative ! When was the last time Inter Milan won the Champions league before Morinho came ? What was the European pedigree of FC Porto before Morinho came ( with almost unknown players ) ?? . Mr Cry-off , did you even believe that Porto will knockout Man U in 2004 Champions league and go-ahead to win it , after winning the Uefa Cup in 2003 ???. If money buys success, why hasn't Mancini made it to the knockout stages with several millions spent on buying world class players on two attempts??? . Just admit that you don't like Morinho and he doesn't like you either . Were Dani Alves, Abidal, Sanchez, Ibrahimovic, David Villa, Alex Song e.t.c not from different clubs ??? In the past Rivaldo, Figo, Cluviet,Saviola,Ronaldo,Eto,Ronaldinho,Romario,Edmilson,Van Bronkost,Winsten Bogard, Frank and Ronald de Boar,Van Bommel,Deco, Albertini....the list is endless. Meeeeeeeeeen just shaaaraaaap Mr Cry-continue. Morinho is a great coach and far greater than you.

I know that chelsea fans will die defending mourinho because they think he is the best thing since sliced bread but i think cryuf hit the nail on the head. Mourinho sets up his team to cancel out enterprising opponents instead of taking the game to them - he waits for their mistakes and pounces. He is not a good manager but a mercenary who scans the whole world for ready made players and snap them up to achieve higlory hunt. To back this fact up, Mourinho was once asked if he could coach the english or portuguese national side, his answer was NO because you can not buy a player for national team ( for instance you cannot make Messi who is an argentine player turn up for England)

What exactly are Arsenal fans you talking about ? For the fact that you support Arsenal shouldn't make you go over-board. Are you still hurt by what Morinho did to Wenger while he was at Chelsea ??? Deco, Mccarty,Maniche,Constinha,Ferrera,Thiago e.t.c were players he used to win CL , including knocking Man U out at 'Newtraford' . Morinho is far better than Arsene Wenger. How can a manager stay in one club for almost two decades without winning Champions league.??? What a record. Wenger hasn't even won uefa cup, i remember he lost to a 10-man Galatasary . Mtcheeew. When will Arsenal win Champions League ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I'm an Enyimba and Madrid fan anyway.

I couldn't agree more! His legacy of signing players world class players is what led to Chelsea's downfall. His man management skills are paralled by a few coaches i.e. Guus Hiddink, Sir Alex, Carlo Ancelloti... it's very difficult for a new coach to just walk in and take over from where he left off. Mourinho is a very tactical coach. He signs players knowing exactly how he wants to use them but I think this time he has gone a bit overboard. Many people see him as an ideal successor to Sir Alex, but I would much rather have Harry Rednapp at the helm. Alternatively, someone like David Moyes must be roped in as an assistant to Fergie. When Fergie finally retires, there will be a sense of continuity. Mourinhos recruitment policy may be sustainable(provided funds are available) but the sad reality is that he will leave at some point.
