McCarthy was not part of the Pirates team that registered a convincing 2-0 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday night and De Sa says the player should be given time to fully regain his fitness.

The Pirates coach tells KickOff.com that he had a heart-to-heart chat with Igesund regarding Benni's fitness and advised the Bafana coach against considering the country's all time leading scorer for action during the national team's upcoming international matches.
"No, I do not think Benni is fit enough to play any competitive matches at the moment," says De Sa.
"I have talked to Gordon about this and I do not think he [Benni] will be considered for national duty during Bafana's friendly matches," adds the Pirates coach.
The injury of key players has been one of Igesund's stumbling blocks during his preparations for next month's Africa Cup of Nations.
While McCarthy is not in the squad that will face Malawi on Saturday, Igesund is hoping the striker will take part in a mini-training camp in Johannesburg from 27-30 December together with other recovering players such as Mamelodi Sundowns's Katlego Mphela and Thulani Serero of Ajax Amsterdam.
There are also questions regarding the fitness of Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker, who only played 33 minutes during Amakhosi's 2-0 win over AmaZulu on Tuesday before limping off the field with his right ankle heavily strapped.
Parker is part of the Bafana squad that will face Malawi in an international friendly on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The CV Chef would have recommended him to play knowing very well that he's unfit, Dankie De Sa let Bafunny BaChiemps go and play alone in the Afcon wish they could exclude all our players cause we all know that Bafunny won't even make the next round

Mara Chief!! are you a South African or what? for what i am sure of, is that our national team (Bafana Bafana) is going to tke part in the 2013 AFCON. So i think we need to stick together as a nation in order to provide necessary support to the team. I know you hate other teams for your own reasons, but please give your national team a chance.
