Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa tells Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund not te select Benni McCarthy

Posted: 20 December 2012 Time: 14:57

Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa has strongly advised Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund against considering veteran striker Benni McCarthy for national duty.

McCarthy was not part of the Pirates team that registered a convincing 2-0 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday night and De Sa says the player should be given time to fully regain his fitness.

The Pirates coach tells that he had a heart-to-heart chat with Igesund regarding Benni's fitness and advised the Bafana coach against considering the country's all time leading scorer for action during the national team's upcoming international matches.

"No, I do not think Benni is fit enough to play any competitive matches at the moment," says De Sa.

"I have talked to Gordon about this and I do not think he [Benni] will be considered for national duty during Bafana's friendly matches," adds the Pirates coach.

The injury of key players has been one of Igesund's stumbling blocks during his preparations for next month's Africa Cup of Nations.

While McCarthy is not in the squad that will face Malawi on Saturday, Igesund is hoping the striker will take part in a mini-training camp in Johannesburg from 27-30 December together with other recovering players such as Mamelodi Sundowns's Katlego Mphela and Thulani Serero of Ajax Amsterdam.

There are also questions regarding the fitness of Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker, who only played 33 minutes during Amakhosi's 2-0 win over AmaZulu on Tuesday before limping off the field with his right ankle heavily strapped.

Parker is part of the Bafana squad that will face Malawi in an international friendly on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Mara Chief!! are you a South African or what? for what i am sure of, is that our national team (Bafana Bafana) is going to tke part in the 2013 AFCON. So i think we need to stick together as a nation in order to provide necessary support to the team. I know you hate other teams for your own reasons, but please give your national team a chance.

De Sa is raising a point but when it comes to the national teams, some coaches look at the names rather than the current performances (though they claim otherwise)....Nomvethe was recalled cos of similar reasons, he is a good if not a better striker...but what we did, has resulted in a negative impact on our development: we should/could have developed a lethal combination if we didn't go for the has beens: now we might be gunning with abo Benni nabo Mphela - who I believe are not bad players but their current states are questionable: I saw u Mphela against Chippa United last night, he couldn't get it right cos he lacks game time....that means he is not mentally fit (which is essential in such competitions)...Gordon must work on what he is got, if he wants his presence be felt:

RDS is Benni's coach and has every right to be honest about his players, actually Mbesuma is miles better than benni in terms of Fitness he Attacks, he holds well and help defend, he is mobile and Benni does one thing holds the ball and scores (last season).

Its over now, he must just start distributing pumphlets, stickers and do promotions for Pirates all over the country ...tarvens, sheebens ,correctional services and spread the word of RED LIPS.

Pirates Target Seeks Clearance

20 December 2012

Orlando Pirates target, William Mootsana, is set to travel to Botswana to negotiate his release from Flamengo Santos. The 25-year-old is wanting to continue his professional footballing career in the PSL after plying his trade in Botswana.

Mootsana’s agent, Ben Kokela ,told the Siya crew that he has already made the arrangements to accompany the player on his journey to request his clearance from the Botswana Premier League side.

“The player has travelled home to the Eastern Cape and I’m waiting for him to return so that we can work. I’m planning to travel to Botswana with him so that we can pursue this thing of his clearance.

“We agreed that we will meet and work on this because we have targeted January to have everything with us,” said Kokela.

Kokela confirmed that Mootsana impressed the Pirates technical team after his recent trial with the club, and could be offered a deal during the upcoming January transfer window.
why some moegoes are dreaming of Rainford Kabala (Kalaba), pierats is busy behind their back, trying to fill the only foreign quoata with a free agent from Botswana. I said this long ago, if Sundowns couldn't afford this guy, who is this Khoza under the sun? When last did he break the bank to buy a quality player? Hypocrites!
