Khune: We are overconfident at times

Itumeleng Khune feels Kaizer Chiefs still have a lot of room for improvement

Itumeleng Khune feels Kaizer Chiefs still have a lot of room for improvement despite sitting top of the Premier Soccer League almost at the halfway stage.

Amakhosi top the log with 31 points after 14 matches and they are followed closely by rivals Orlando Pirates on 28 points.

The Chiefs skipper has highlighted some aspects of their game that need improvement.

"Sometimes, we as players approach games as if we are just going to have a walk in the park. We are overconfident at times and we think other teams don't deserve to be respected even though they deserve respect," he says.

Despite the concern, the 25-year-old is confident that the Phefeni Glamour Boys are in it to win it this campaign.

"We will try our best to win the League, but I'm not promising anything because it is still early days. There is still room for improvement like I said… But so far so good," he adds.

When we tell Chiefs fans that it's still early days, they tell us about amasende ka Majoro. I don't see Chiefs reclaiming any glory this season...
