Steven Pienaar cherishes special goal against Tottenham Hotspur

Posted: 11 December 2012 Time: 10:08

Steven Pienaar says his goal against Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend was extra special for two reasons.

Firstly, it was the equalising goal against his former club – and one which sparked a dramatic comeback win.

But more than that it was only Schillo’s second ever headed goal as a professional player, and it came more than a decade after the first.

“What can I say, the past is the past. Now I'm back at Everton and you give everything for the club you play for. That's what I do and I was just lucky to get a goal,” he told the Toffees’ official website.

“To score against your former club, it meant a lot to me and to the supporters. The timing was perfect. To score in the last minute, it was a special goal.

“The last [header] I scored was for Ajax in 2001 – my first goal in Europe. Today was only my second one so I'm quite pleased with it.”

During his great career at Chelsea FC, Didier Drogba never turned down a call-up 4rm his country, in 2012 when he won the Champions league, he also played in the AFCON earlier that year, even though he was 33 yrz @ dat tym(correct me) nd Chelsea needed him badly too...he went to Equitoral Guinea nd played all the games...he never complained dat he was tired!!!

That's the type of Captain/player SA is lacking, even though Drogba ddnt win dat much with his country(trophies), bt his committment nd Patriotism to his country will remain Legendary!! Nd he will retire as a hero in the eyes of his ppl!!!

People you can hate Pienaar's decision all you like i 4 1 think it was a good 1, remember Teko when he played in all Bafana & piRATS games what happened after that, every1 was complaining about his performances. So Pienaar as well was under criticism over his performances and remember this guy is 31 not a youngster anymore. Myeni, Classen, Serero must take us forward

No guys, Steven Pienaar is one of our own, Try to look at the two sides of the coin. The fact that he is a regular at Everton should make you not to doubt his potential. Now at Bafunny Bafunny he is playing with average bunch of players and thus make him look ordinary as well. His football skills make him that kind of player that plays well in combination plays (when he combines with teammates-and creates for them). Some players are like that, some players motivate or get other players in the game (like Shoes Mosheou or 16V will do). In Bafunny BaChiefs all the components that were needed for Schillo to shine have not been there hence you all have not been impressed with him.
