McCarthy is back to full fitness after recovering from a hamstring injury while Mbuyane has started full-time training after being sidelined with illness.
But despite the return of the duo, Bucs will travel to Cape Town without midfielder Andile Jali, who is still struggling with a knee injury he picked up during the Telkom Knockout Cup game against Bloemfontein Celtic few weeks ago.
After their game against the Chill Boys, Piratesl face Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby at Soccer City on Saturday and the outcome could very well determine which of the two teams will be top of the log going into the festive season break.
Speaking to KickOff.com, Mbuyane confirms that he is available for selection.
"I am okay and have been training with the rest of the team. I'm not sure if I will travel to Cape Town for the game against Chippa as all will depend on the technical team's decision, but on my side I am ready to play at any time," says Mbuyane.
'Juju' says the game against Chippa would be as important as any for their title aspirations this season.
"Our main focus now is on the game against Chippa and we will only start thinking about the game against Chiefs on Thursday.
"It's always nice to beat Chiefs, but the League is not only made up of one team. There are 14 other teams and to win the League you have to beat them as well.
"That is why it is important to also do well against Chippa before focusing on the next game against Chiefs."
