Downs and Neeskens part ways

Mamelodi Sundowns have terminated the contract of coach Johan Neeskens

Posted: 2 December 2012 Time: 5:46 pm

Mamelodi Sundowns have terminated the contract of Johan Neeskens and appointed Pitso Mosimane as new head coach.

This was confirmed on the club's website by president Patrice Motsepe.

The statement on the clubs website reads: “Johan Neeskens is a good coach whose experience and track record speaks for itself.

"He sacrificed and worked hard for the success of the club. Johan will always have a special place at Mamelodi Sundowns and I wish him the very best with his future and career.”

Sundowns also announced the appointment of Mosimane as their new head coach with immediate effect.

Motsepe said: “I am excited to welcome Pitso to Mamelodi Sundowns and am confident that he will contribute to the success and growth of the Club.

"Pitso’s first major task is to ensure that we win games and finish in a respectable position in the Premier Soccer League, taking into account the very high standards we set for ourselves.

"Our current position on the log is extremely embarrassing and we have to restore the dignity and pride of Sundowns and our supporters.”

hi, your artcile is not complete please add this "Our current position on the log is extremely embarrassing and we have to restore the dignity and pride of Sundowns and our supporters”.

The players at Mamelodi Sundowns and the Technical Team welcomed Pitso Mosimane and recommitted themselves to winning games and silverware." from Mamelodi website.

Eish. A poor coach. But it was long ovedue. Anyway I personally think it is a good thing for this coach healthwise. You can clearly see the 'effects' of coaching Sundowns on His face. One can only imagine what it did to his Heart condition.

Pitso will definitely rebuild Sundowns. And I expect all the dead-wood and the Big-headed to be off-loaded come next tranfer period.
With all the money they were getting paid, it's gonna be tough to take a more than 50+% paycuts for most of these spoilt losers.

Eish with Neeskens gone who's gonna take the media to the cleaners????

We all gna miss his interactions with the forever critisizing SA media, hopefully Pitso can pull a Gordon Igesund nd bring the Yellow nation back to life...Themba Zwane, Shongwe, Julies, Mabaso...Pitso please look after those players!!

My advise to Pitso is please get rid of all the technical team including Mr H Legodi himself and employ yours I guess Mr Augustine Makalakane's name would be there as your right hand man.In you we trust we can overcome these shadows we are under.Don't dissapoint us Sandawana take Downs to where it belongs, I promise come next Downs game in DBN I will be there on stand my boycot of Downs games is now suspended with your appointment.

This coach being kicked out has Teko written all over it as being the main instigator in having this man fired and some of the players turning against him.

Teko tried the same stunt against Krol, but hell nah Krol wasn't gonna have it like that as long as he had Mbuyane and crew as his 'Krol Advocates!' Teko, according to Mbuyane's interview on KickOff, tried to turn some players against Krol and unfortunately for Teko, he was the one that got the boot.

He not only has "ismnyama", but he's a skunk!!! Sies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somebody shoot that boy please...

Sometimes a change in coach can bring good fortune for a club, e.g Chelsea last season AVB isn't a bad coach, bt after he was fired the same players who wer failing went on to win the FA Cup nd UCL...the same myt happen 4 Dawanas!!!
