Serero comeback sooner than expected

Thulani Serero to make his return to reserve team football for Ajax Amsterdam

Posted: 1 December 2012 Time: 10:11 am

Ajax Amsterdam coach Frank de Boer has revealed that Thulani Serero should make a return to reserve team football in about a week.

Serero had a storming start to the season in Holland, scoring three times in four matches, but then tore a groin muscle in a match against ADO Den Haag on September 23 and missed international friendlies against Poland and Kenya, as well as Champions League action against Manchester City, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

With an original return date of January mooted, there were also fears Serero would miss the Africa Cup of Nations. But not it seems the club are confident he will return sooner, and he is penciled in for reserve team football in a week's time.

"Thulani Serero will play not this Monday but next Monday at Ajax," De Boer was quoted by the club's official Twitter account.

The club is hoping the 22-year-old will be back in time for a League match against Willem II on December 16.

Following that Ajax play two more games before the Christmas break, so Serero will have little time to prove to Gordon Igesund that he is ready for the Afcon in January.

When we kicked Teko out of The Dream Team we made Ajax Cape Town an offer they couldn't refuse....

but the big mother club came in & threw it's weight and we lost this boy....

He shouldn't have gone to Amsterdam...

he has regressed as a footballer, the training methods there are inferior & detrimental to his health, this is his 3rd major injury since joining Amsterdam and worst of all he has missed out on being legend being spoken about in folklore for centuries to come for being a Double-Treble-Champion....

This boy is forever injured! Moegoes can say what they want about Benni, but he only got injury prone in his 30s. This boy is not even 25 but yeses he's forever getting nursed! I can see Idah Peterside telling Thomas, "See, I told you SA players are softies. You touch them and they say Itchuuu!"

What an embarrasment Thulani Sekomoro is!

Up The Bucs until Jimmy Tau passes his 10yr Diploma... (a Degree is just asking for too much)

As long as Smith gets one good innings score we always win the match, plus Amla nd King Kallis can nd put on another one of their huge partnerships...we won't lose this one!!!
