'Messi deserves record fourth Ballon d'Or'

Posted: 29 November 2012 Time: 03:30 pm

Uefa president Michel Platini says Messi, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2009, 2010, and 2011, deserves to win it again.

The Barcelona attacker currently shares the record of winning the prize three years in a row with Platini, a former France international.

"Records are there to be beaten. If he wins it again, it's because he deserves it," Platini told Ouest-France.

"He's still only 25 years old and has every opportunity to leave his mark for all eternity."

Fifa and France Football announced the final three candidates for the 2012 award today, with Spain-based trio of Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta the final three.

The Ballon d'Or will be awarded on January 7.

all those players who prefered to be drunk instead of playing football, we could have seen atleast one of them competing with the likes of Messi,Christiano and Iniesta. the likes of Jabu Pule, Steve Lekoelea, Skapi Malatsi and others. Damn those boys could have given Messi a hard time.

While I think that the 3 players are undoubtadly the best, the truth is that in Spain, if you aint Madrids and Barca, chances are you suck, so its a little easier. While in England, you play Fulham and its as tough as Arsenal.

This is what I call a FOOTBALL GENIUS, he aint selfish, arrogant or full of himself. One can never get tired of seeing this guy do what he does best i.e making "superstars" look like dust.

After all, he got nothing on our Nyawana.

He is really good. But we also have to look at current level of football in general. I like what Luis Figo just said when asked about who is the best between the (former footballer) Zinedine Zidane and Messi. And his response was that besides them been the two different players, there is currently just a small pool of players to compete for the Best.
It's between Messi and Ronaldo. Whereas during the Zidane's times you'll have to sieve from at least 20+ best players. Truely speaking besides Ronaldo, he's (Messi) got no competition because there's virtually No competition at all.

Mr Platini has spoken like a true great who appreciates that Messi is not just talent, he is just a different species. One that comes every 100 years.

People I think we are seeing, the greatest footbaler of his generation and possibly, the greatest footballer of all times. I am blessed to have witnessed his artistry live twice.

As the Argentines sang during the WC: "WABO WABO" Leo.
