Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung has laughed off suggestions that he will make an audacious bid to lure David Beckham to the club.
The former England captain has announced he will leave MLS side LA Galaxy when his contract expires next month, and immediately reports in the local media linked the 37-year-old with a move to Naturena.
But writing in his weekly column on the club’s website, Motaung made light of the rumours.
“I also find it intriguing that a player of David Beckham’s calibre has been associated with a move to Naturena; perhaps a factor that flatters every football loving South African,” he says.
“I must say I do enjoy the speculations that have undoubtedly added a bit of character to our nature as an all-time history-making South African football club. As for now, I choose to ride and flow with the wave of speculations and hope that it carries omens of fortunes for our course.”
Beckham has been strongly tipped to move to Australia, while big-spending French club Paris Saint-Germain are also known to be interested.
